The following day we were off to the Athabasca Glacier. Some fun facts: it is the most accessible glacier in North America. It is 6km long. Its depth varies between 270-1000 ft. It is thousands of years old- incredible something like this has held on for this long. The driver told us that at one point a few years back it went through a mini ice age and lost about 2km of its length, but that also that every night it freezes, and temp reaches to about -50 celsius. Insane.
If you ever decide to visit the glacier, bring your own water bottle to fill up with some fresh glacier water.
Our next stop after the glacier was the famous skywalk lookout. If you’ve seen the Amazing Race Canada well then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
On our way back, we stopped by a few lakes. And boy were we happy we did.
It just mind blowning how mother nature works. We pass by a lake with a beautiful turquoise colour and a few km up the same road you find a snow covered lake- just pure beauty.
And now presenting to you, LAKE LOUISE! The anticipation was over.
If ever in the area and want to wake up to this view every morning then you want to be staying here…
Overall, probably my favourite day of all. Got to see and appreciate everything around me. I’m totally in love with Alberta more than I was before.
